Job Summary
As a Care Worker at our residential home, you will be responsible for providing compassionate and personalised care to the children under our supervision. Your role will involve creating a nurturing and supportive environment, assisting with daily living activities, and promoting the physical, emotional, and social well-being.

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Direct Care and Support:
- Provide hands-on assistance with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation, ensuring the children's personal hygiene and nutritional needs are met.
- Supervise and support children in completing chores, homework, and recreational activities in accordance with their individualized care plans.
- Administer medication and assist with medical appointments under the direction of healthcare professionals.
Emotional and Social Support:
- Foster positive relationships with the children through active listening, empathy, and encouragement, serving as a trusted and reliable caregiver.
- Engage children in recreational and educational activities to promote socialization, creativity, and cognitive development.
- Recognize and respond sensitively to the emotional needs of the children, offering comfort, reassurance, and guidance as appropriate.
Safety and Crisis Management:
- Maintain a safe and secure environment by enforcing rules, boundaries, and safety protocols, and promptly addressing any safety concerns or emergencies.
- Monitor children's behavior and intervene in conflicts or challenging situations using de-escalation techniques and behavior management strategies.
- Collaborate with the Social Worker and other team members to implement crisis intervention plans and support children in managing emotions and behaviors.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records of daily activities, incidents, and observations regarding the children's behavior, progress, and any significant changes.
- Complete required documentation, such as incident reports, medication logs, and daily logs, in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in caregiving, child development, or a related field is advantageous.
- Prior experience working with children, preferably in a residential or childcare setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with children and establish trusting relationships.
- Patience, empathy, and compassion in caring for children who may have experienced trauma or adversity.
- Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in childcare and behavior management.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Basic understanding of health and safety protocols, including first aid and CPR certification (preferred).
- Flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to meet the needs of the children and the program.
Working Conditions:
- This position may involve standing, walking, bending, and lifting, as well as exposure to various environmental conditions and physical demands associated with caring for children.
- Care Workers may be required to work rotating shifts, including evenings, overnights, and weekends, to ensure 24-hour coverage and support for the children.
