Business Development Manager
Job summary
The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding the company’s client base, and developing strategic partnerships across leisure, group, corporate, and experiential travel segments. This role is focused on sales performance, relationship management, and market expansion within Nigeria and selected African markets.

Responsibilities:
Business Growth & Sales:
- Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities across leisure, group travel, corporate travel, and curated travel experiences
- Drive sales of international and regional travel packages from Nigeria to global destinations
- Manage the full sales cycle from lead sourcing, pitching, negotiation,to deal closure
- Maintain a strong sales pipeline and consistently meet monthly and quarterly revenue targets
Partnerships & Strategic Alliances:
- Build and manage partnerships with airlines, hotels, DMCs, embassies, visa partners, and corporate organizations
- Negotiate preferred rates, group allocations, and commission structures with travel suppliers
- Develop B2B relationships with HR teams, SMEs, corporate organizations, and high-net-worth networks
Client Relationship Management:
- Manage high-value individual clients, corporate accounts, and repeat travellers
- Provide tailored travel solutions aligned with client budgets, travel goals, and timelines
- Collaborate with travel consultants/operations teams to ensure seamless execution
Market Intelligence & Strategy:
- Monitor Nigerian and African travel trends, seasonal demand, visa policies, and flight availability
- Track competitor pricing, promotions, and product positioning within the local market
- Provide actionable insights to management to support pricing and product decisions
Brand & Revenue Expansion:
- Support promotional campaigns, travel launches, and experiential events
- Collaborate with marketing teams on sales-driven campaigns and lead generation strategies
- Represent the company at travel fairs, networking events, and corporate engagements
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Revenue growth and sales target achievement
- Number of new clients and partnerships acquired
- Conversion rate of leads to confirmed bookings
- Retention and repeat business levels
- Partnership performance and profitability
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Tourism, or a related field
- 3–5 years of experience in business development or sales within travel, tourism, aviation, hospitality, or service industries
- Strong understanding of outbound travel from Nigeria and Africa
- An existing network within corporate, SME, or travel-related sectors is a strong advantage
- Strong negotiation and closing skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to sell premium and mid-range travel products
- Strong Commercial awareness, analytical thinking and revenue-driven mindset
- Self-motivated, organized, and results-oriented
- Relationship-building and networking ability
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
Salary & Commission Structure:
Base Salary: NGN150,000 – 200,000 monthly (depending on experience and performance history)
Commission Model:
- N50,000 commission per person from each closed fully packaged
- destination travel trip deals
- N25,000 commission per person from other closed travel related
- services such as flight ticket, visa, hotel accommodation sold as individual service
Higher Commission Tiers for:
- Group travel bookings
- Corporate contracts
- High-value and repeat clients
- Performance bonuses for exceeding quarterly and annual targets
- High performers typically earn significantly above base salary.
Hybrid Work Structure:
- On-site: 2–3 days per week (client meetings, strategy sessions, supplier engagements)
- Remote: 2–3 days per week (lead follow-ups, proposal preparation, partner calls)
- Flexibility required for:
- After-hours client communication
- Weekend or event-based engagements
- Time-zone sensitive partner meetings
