Business Development Manager
Job summary
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, driving revenue growth, and expanding Fairsure’s presence across key sectors. The ideal candidate must have strong fintech experience, leadership capability, and a proven track record of closing high-value deals.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Develop and execute business growth strategies to increase revenue and market share
- Identify and secure strategic partnerships with corporates, SMEs, financial institutions, and government agencies
- Lead merchant acquisition strategy across retail and public sector segments
- Drive adoption of POS, USSD, payment gateway, and other fintech solutions
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers
- Negotiate and close high-value commercial agreements
- Conduct market research to identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to align solutions with market needs
- Prepare business proposals, presentations, and performance reports
- Meet and exceed revenue and expansion targets
- HND/BSc in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or related field (MBA is an added advantage)
- Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in Business Development, Sales, or Strategic Partnerships (preferably in fintech, banking, or payment services)
- Strong understanding of payment systems, acquiring business, and digital financial services
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets
- Strong network within corporate, retail, financial services, or public sector
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking ability
- Leadership and team management experience
- Experience working with payment processors (Interswitch, NIBSS, CoralPay, etc.)
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements in the Nigerian fintech ecosystem
- Experience with enterprise sales and B2B partnerships
