Business Development Manager
Job summary
We are hiring a Business Development Manager to open, grow and manage relationships with supermarket and pharmacy chains across Lagos. This is a hunting role for a self-driven salesperson who can reach chain category buyers, win new product listings, deepen existing accounts and rebuild lapsed ones. You will build and own our modern-trade sales pipeline from the ground up, backed by real sales data on what sells through these channels.

- Identify and open new wholesale accounts with supermarket and pharmacy chains across Lagos (modern trade).
- Grow revenue within existing chain accounts by expanding the range of products they stock from us.
- Re-engage and win back lapsed accounts.
- Reach the right decision-makers category and procurement buyers and present data-led range and pricing proposals.
- Build and manage a structured sales pipeline, keeping accurate records and disciplined follow-up on every account.
- Negotiate listings, pricing and terms in line with company policy.
- Work closely with the operations team to ensure new accounts are served reliably and on time.
- Meet agreed targets for new accounts opened, revenue growth and collections.
- Minimum HND / BSc in a relevant field.
- Minimum 3–5 years' B2B or field sales experience in FMCG, cosmetics, personal care or pharmaceutical distribution.
- Proven track record opening and growing modern-trade (supermarket / pharmacy chain) accounts; existing relationships with chain buyers are a strong advantage.
- A genuine hunter comfortable with outbound prospecting, cold approaches and longer, multi- step sales cycles.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-management skills.
- Numerate and confident working with sales data, spreadsheets and CRM tools.
- Highly self-driven, organised, and disciplined with follow-up.
- Based in Lagos (or willing to relocate) and able to travel across the metro for buyer meetings.
- A growing number of new chain accounts opened and are actively re-ordering.
- Measurable revenue growth from both new and existing chain accounts.
- Healthy collections and low overdue balances on the accounts you open.
- A consistently maintained, well-managed sales pipeline.
- Remuneration: Base salary: NGN 250,000 – 300,000 per month (negotiable with experience), plus performance commission on collected revenue and a bonus for each new chain account landed.
- Strong performers can expect on-target earnings well above base.
- Transport and logistics allowance is provided.
