Job summary

Amara Medicare is a specialist healthcare facility providing integrated eye care, dental care, and ENT (ear, nose & throat) services. We are seeking an energetic, highly networked, and results-oriented Business Development Lead to drive patient growth through strategic partnerships, professional referrals, community engagement, and institutional relationships. This is a field-based relationship and business development role for an individual who can actively build trust with key stakeholders and develop a sustainable referral network for Amara Medicare.

Responsibilities:

Professional Referral Partnerships:

  • Identify, develop, and maintain strong referral relationships with relevant healthcare professionals.
  • Build sustainable partnerships that generate patient referrals.


Optometrist Referral Network:

  • Build and manage a strong network of optometrists within Awka and surrounding communities.
  • Develop referral pathways for patients requiring specialist eye care.


Medical Specialist & Hospital Liaison:

  • Develop relationships with physicians, paediatricians, other medical specialists, hospitals, and clinics.
  • Establish appropriate referral pathways for patients requiring specialist eye, dental, and ENT care.


Pharmacy Partnerships:

  • Build relationships with pharmacy owners, managers, and key pharmacy outlets across Awka and surrounding communities.
  • Develop mutually beneficial referral opportunities.


Schools & Educational Institutions:

  • Develop partnerships with schools and educational institutions.
  • Coordinate opportunities such as school health and eye screenings.


Churches & Faith-Based Organisations:

  • Develop relationships with churches and other faith-based organisations.
  • Identify opportunities for health outreaches, screenings, and community engagement.


Community Partnerships:

  • Build relationships with community leaders, traditional institutions, town unions, age-grade associations, market associations, residents’ associations, NGOs, social organisations, and community development associations.


Corporate & Institutional Partnerships:

  • Identify and develop relationships with companies, banks, large employers, and other institutions.
  • Explore corporate healthcare partnership opportunities.


HMO & Insurance Relationships:

  • Support the development and strengthening of relationships with HMOs and insurance providers.
  • Identify opportunities to increase patient access through institutional partnerships.


Referral Tracking & Relationship Management:

  • Maintain a structured database of referring doctors, optometrists, pharmacies, institutions, and other referral partners.
  • Track referrals, conversion rates, relationship activities, and business development performance.
  • Prepare regular reports on field activities, partnerships, referrals, and revenue generated.


Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
  • At least 2 years of experience in business development, sales, relationship management, healthcare sales, medical sales, or a related field.
  • Experience in healthcare business development or medical sales is strongly preferred.
  • Existing relationships within the Anambra healthcare ecosystem, particularly among healthcare professionals, pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, and institutions, will be an advantage.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent networking and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strong understanding of referral-based business development.
  • Ability to independently initiate, develop, and maintain professional relationships.
  • Good reporting, documentation, and CRM skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within Awka and surrounding communities.
  • A valid driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation will be an advantage.


Performance Expectations:

  • Build and expand Amara Medicare's professional and institutional referral network.
  • Generate measurable patient referrals through healthcare, corporate, community, school, pharmacy, and institutional partnerships.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with referral partners.
  • Identify and convert new business development opportunities.
  • Track and report business development activities, referrals, conversions, and revenue generated.
  • Contribute directly to patient acquisition and sustainable revenue growth.


Remuneration: NGN 250,000 Monthly
