Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

Market Intelligence & Data Collection:

  • Collect current market prices of construction materials across Abuja and neighboring locations.
  • Capture high-quality images and product information for construction materials.
  • Upload and maintain accurate product information on the Shieldvase.io platform.
  • Monitor market price fluctuations and identify pricing trends.
  • Gather supplier information including contact details, inventory levels, and delivery capabilities.
  • Conduct competitor analysis and monitor the activities of other building material suppliers and marketplaces.


Construction Site Engagement:

  • Visit active construction sites daily to promote Shieldvase products and services.
  • Introduce customers to Shieldvase features
  • Smart Logistics Services
  • Generate leads from builders, contractors, architects, project managers, and developers.
  • Convert site visits into registered customers and active users.


Supplier Acquisition & Relationship Management:

  • Identify and onboard construction material suppliers.
  • Build relationships with manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, and retailers.
  • Verify supplier credentials and product availability.
  • Negotiate favorable pricing and partnership agreements.
  • Maintain an up-to-date supplier database.


Logistics & Truck Network Development:

  • Collect logistics and transportation data from truck drivers and fleet operators.
  • Build a database of truck categories
  • Onboard truck operators and logistics partners onto the Shieldvase platform.
  • Monitor logistics rates and transportation market conditions.


Product Discovery & Revenue Growth:

  • Identify high-value and high-demand construction materials suitable for listing on Shieldvase.
  • Recommend new product categories that can drive platform growth.
  • Analyze customer demand and market opportunities.
  • Support implementation of new marketplace initiatives.


Reporting & Analytics:

  • Submit weekly market intelligence reports.
  • Produce supplier onboarding reports.
  • Prepare logistics network reports.
  • Generate sales opportunity reports.
  • Present market insights and growth recommendations to management.
  • Maintain accurate CRM and business development records.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

The successful candidate will be measured on:

  • Number of construction sites visited weekly.
  • Number of suppliers onboarded monthly.
  • Number of truck operators onboarded monthly.
  • Number of product listings updated.
  • Accuracy of market pricing data collected.
  • Number of customer leads generated.
  • Number of registered users acquired.
  • Number of RFQs generated.
  • Revenue opportunities identified.
  • Weekly reporting quality and timeliness.


Requirements:

  • Diploma, HND, BSc, or equivalent qualification in Business Administration, Marketing, Construction Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Economics, or related fields.
  • Experience
  • 1–3 years of experience in business development, sales, field marketing, construction, logistics, procurement, or marketplace operations.
  • Experience working within the construction industry is an advantage.
  • Skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with suppliers and contractors.
  • Excellent data collection and reporting skills.
  • Good understanding of Abuja and Envions construction markets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in field environments.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Experience using mobile applications and digital platforms.
  • Additional Requirements
  • Must own a smartphone.
  • Must be willing to travel extensively within Abuja and surrounding areas.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of construction materials is highly desirable.
