Job summary

The Bread Bakery Assistant supports the bakery production team by assisting with ingredient preparation, dough mixing, packaging of finished products, cleaning of equipment and work areas, and other general production duties. The role is essential in maintaining product quality, food safety, and a clean, efficient working environment.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in measuring and preparing baking ingredients according to recipes.
  • Support the baker during dough mixing, kneading, proofing, and other production processes.
  • Prepare baking trays, pans, and other equipment for daily production.
  • Package bread and other bakery products neatly and accurately.
  • Label and arrange finished products for storage or delivery.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the bakery, including work surfaces, equipment, utensils, floors, and storage areas.
  • Wash mixing bowls, trays, pans, and other bakery equipment after use.
  • Dispose of waste properly and keep the production area free from hazards.
  • Assist with loading and unloading raw materials and finished products.
  • Monitor ingredient levels and promptly report shortages to the supervisor.
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.
  • Wear the required protective clothing and maintain high personal hygiene standards.
  • Carry out any other production-related duties assigned by the Head Baker or Management.


Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a bakery or food production environment is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods and lift moderate loads.
