Job summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detailed-oriented Public Health Biochemist to join our team. The successful candidate will apply their expertise in biochemistry to analyze biological samples, environmental factors, and nutritional data to monitor population health trends and identify emerging disease threats.

Responsibilities:
- Perform complex biochemical analyses on blood, serum, and tissue samples to diagnose disease, monitor health indicators, or assess environmental exposures.
- Utilise advanced molecular techniques (e.g., PCR, ELISA, Mass Spectrometry) to detect and track pathogens in clinical specimens for public health monitoring.
- Investigate the effects of environmental contaminants (e.g., air/water pollutants) on population health by analysing metabolic pathways and toxicological impact.
- Analyse large datasets from community surveillance, interpret findings, and author technical reports for public health officials.
- Develop and validate new laboratory assays, techniques, and diagnostic protocols to improve detection speed and accuracy.
- Maintain high-level quality control and adherence to safety protocols (CLIA/CAP regulations) for laboratory operations.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Clinical Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field
- Proven laboratory experience (2+ years preferred) in a clinical, public health, or research environment.
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques (PCR, sequencing, ELISAs) and analytical equipment (HPLC, GC-MS/MS).
- Strong knowledge of biochemical assay development, quality control standards, and safety procedures.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting complex data to non-scientific stakeholders.
