Production Coordinator
Job summary
The Production Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling all beverage production activities to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, cost-effectively, and in full compliance with quality, regulatory, and food safety standards. Ensures optimal use of manpower, machinery, machinery and materials.

Responsibilities:
Production Planning & Execution:
- Develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly production plans in line with sales forecasts and inventory levels.
- Ensure on-time production of beverages across all SKUs without compromising quality.
- Coordinate raw material availability to avoid downtime or stock-outs.
- Monitor production outputs against targets and take corrective actions where required.
- Optimize production schedules to reduce waste, rework, and idle time.
Process & Operational Control:
- Supervise all production processes, including Water treatment, CIP, Syrup Preparation, Blending, Filling, packaging, and Finished goods handling
- Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are strictly followed at all stages.
- Continuously improve production efficiency through process optimization and lean practices.
- Ensure proper line changeovers and sanitation between production runs.
Quality Assurance & Food Safety Compliance:
- Enforce compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP principles, NAFDAC regulations and all Internal Quality Control standards
- Collaborate with Quality Control to ensure the highest In-process quality checks standards, lab analysis, and quarantine procedures
- Release of finished products only after quality approval
- Investigate and resolve quality deviations, non-conformances, and customer complaints linked to production.
Equipment & Maintenance Coordination:
- Ensure production equipment is:
- Properly operated and maintained according to schedules
- Cleaned (CIP compliance)
- Work diligently to prevent breakdowns, reduce machine downtime and improve equipment efficiency and lifespan
- Participate in equipment selection, installation, and commissioning when required.
- Inventory & Materials Management
Monitor and control usage of:
- Raw materials, packaging materials and all consumables
- Ensure accurate production records for material usage and yields.
- Minimize wastage, spillage, and losses through controls and staff accountability.
- Support stock reconciliation and audits in collaboration with Inventory and Accounts teams
People Management & Workforce Development:
- Lead, supervise, and motivate production staff to achieve and deliver high-quality products
- Mentor and create a succession plan with the production department to cover for any personnel unavailability to ensure production continuity
- Ensure maintenance of a step-by-step work guide with periodic updates as necessary to allow easy role transition
- Assign duties and manage shift schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
- Train production staff on usage and maintenance of the SOPs, hygiene standards, and Equipment handling
- Enforce discipline, productivity standards, and performance expectations.
- Participate in performance evaluations and recommend training or corrective actions.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):
- Ensure a safe and hygienic production environment at all times.
- Enforce use of PPE and compliance with safety protocols.
- Identify workplace hazards and implement preventive measures.
- Ensure proper waste management and environmental compliance.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare and submit regular reports, including
- Daily Production Reports
- Downtime & Efficiency Reports
- Waste & Yield Reports
- Incident & Non-Conformance Reports
- Maintain accurate production records for audits and regulatory inspections.
Requirements:
- M.Sc. / B.Sc. / HND in Food Science /Chemistry /Microbiology or a related field is required.
- 5-8 years’ experience in beverage or FMCG
- Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or managerial production role.
- Hands-on experience in non-alcoholic beverage production is highly preferred.
- Good understanding of QA, QC, GMP, food safety, and NAFDAC requirements
- Working knowledge of Google Suites
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain and teach methodologies
