Job summary

We are seeking a highly experienced base manager to lead and coordinate day-to-day operations at our operational base. This role requires a seasoned professional with strong leadership skills, hands-on experience in engineering operations management, maintenance supervision, workshop administration, and HSE compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing and coordinating all base operations to ensure efficient and uninterrupted engineering activities.
  • Supervising daily workshop operations, equipment maintenance, and yard management to ensure resources are utilised effectively.
  • Monitors job progress and ensures all activities are completed within approved timelines and quality standards.
  • Management and supervision of technical and support staff.
  • Ensures proper manpower planning, work allocation, discipline enforcement, and performance monitoring.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and identifying training needs of staff are key aspects of the role.
  • Fostering teamwork, professionalism, and accountability within the base.
  • Health, safety, and environmental management are critical responsibilities.
  • Ensures full compliance with HSE policies, conducts safety briefings, enforces PPE usage, and monitors adherence to safe working procedures. 
  • Prompt reporting and investigation of incidents and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Oversees equipment and asset management, ensuring proper maintenance, safe operation, and accurate record keeping.
  • Monitoring equipment downtime, coordinating repairs, and ensuring preventive maintenance schedules are followed.
  • Inventory control of spare parts, tools, and consumables is also a key responsibility, with a focus on minimising waste and losses.


Requirements:

  • A minimum of a degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of proven experience.

  • Ability to work with subordinates and superiors
