Job summary

We are seeking a courteous, enthusiastic, and experienced Barman to join the hospitality team at our client hotel in Edo State. The Barman will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for guests, and maintaining high service standards in the bar area.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

Drink Preparation & Service:

  • Mix, garnish, and serve drinks according to standard recipes and guest preferences.
  • Maintain product knowledge of wines, spirits, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Engage guests warmly and ensure prompt and friendly service.


Bar Hygiene & Safety:

  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar area, including counters, shelves, and equipment.
  • Comply with health, safety, and hygiene standards for drink preparation and serving.
  • Ensure all glassware, tools, and equipment are sanitised and stored properly.


Inventory & Stock Management:

  • Monitor bar stock levels and inform the supervisor of reordering needs.
  • Assist with receiving and organising bar supplies.
  • Prevent wastage and ensure efficient use of ingredients.


Customer Engagement & Atmosphere:

  • Create a welcoming, relaxed, and entertaining bar environment.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, or concerns with professionalism.
  • Encourage repeat business through excellent service and positive guest interaction.


Requirements:

  • SSCE/OND in Hospitality Management or related field is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Barman in a hotel, lounge, or hospitality setting.
  • Good knowledge of popular cocktails, spirits, and serving techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work under pressure, especially during busy hours.
  • Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Customer Service: Warm, approachable, and guest-focused attitude.
  • Mixology: Confident in preparing and serving a variety of drinks.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensures consistency in drink quality and presentation.
  • Cleanliness: Maintains a spotless and organised work area.
  • Energy & Stamina: Able to stay alert and energetic during long shifts.
  • Team Player: Works cooperatively with kitchen and service staff.
