Production Manager

Responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise the daily production of leather bags.
• Independently operate a cylinder-bed industrial sewing machine to assemble and stitch leather bags.
• Draft and develop bag patterns independently based on designs, measurements, and production requirements.
• Translate bag designs and sketches into accurate, production-ready patterns.
• Measure, mark, cut, and prepare leather and other materials according to approved patterns.
• Oversee the complete production process from pattern development and cutting to stitching, assembly, finishing, and packaging.
• Supervise tailors, cutters, sewing machine operators, and other production staff.
• Assign production tasks and monitor staff performance to meet daily and weekly production targets.
• Ensure accurate stitching, alignment, construction, finishing, and overall product quality.
• Inspect finished bags for defects, inconsistencies, and workmanship issues and ensure corrections are made.
• Develop and improve production methods to increase efficiency and reduce material wastage.
• Monitor the availability and proper use of leather, lining, zippers, buckles, threads, adhesives, and other production materials.
• Ensure sewing machines, cutting tools, and other production equipment are properly operated and maintained.
• Troubleshoot basic machine and production issues and coordinate repairs when necessary.
• Estimate material requirements and assist with production costing where required.
• Maintain production records, including quantities produced, material usage, wastage, defects, and completed orders.
• Train and guide production staff on proper sewing, pattern-making, assembly, finishing, and quality-control techniques.
• Ensure production activities comply with company quality standards and workplace safety procedures.
• Work closely with management and design teams to develop new bag designs and improve existing products.
• Ensure customer orders and production schedules are completed within agreed deadlines.

Requirements:

• Minimum of OND, technical qualification, apprenticeship training, or equivalent practical experience in leatherwork, bag making, or a related field.
• proven years of hands-on experience in leather bag production, preferably with supervisory or production management experience.
• Must be able to operate a cylinder-bed industrial sewing machine independently and confidently.
• Must be able to draft bag patterns independently without relying entirely on pre-existing templates.
• Strong practical knowledge of leather cutting, stitching, skiving, edge finishing, lining, hardware installation, and bag assembly.
• Ability to interpret designs, sketches, measurements, and production specifications.
• Strong understanding of different types of leather and materials used in bag manufacturing.
• Good knowledge of industrial sewing machines and their applications in leather goods production.
• Strong quality-control and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to supervise, train, and coordinate a production team.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to meet production targets and work under tight deadlines.
• Good understanding of material utilization and waste reduction.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Creative and technically skilled with the ability to develop and improve bag designs.
• Must be hands-on and willing to participate directly in production when required.
