Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain backend applications, APIs, and web services.
- Build secure, scalable, and high-performing backend systems.
- Design, manage, and optimise databases.
- Develop and integrate RESTful APIs.
- Implement authentication, authorisation, and other security measures.
- Integrate third-party APIs and external services.
- Write clean, efficient, reusable, and well-documented code.
- Debug and resolve backend errors and technical issues.
- Test backend applications to ensure functionality, reliability, and performance.
- Optimise database queries and application performance.
- Work closely with frontend developers to ensure smooth integration between frontend and backend systems.
- Participate in code reviews and follow established coding standards.
- Maintain and improve existing web applications and backend systems.
- Assist with deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of applications.
- Document APIs, processes, and backend system configurations.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in backend development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree/HND in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in backend development or a similar role.
- Proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Node.js, Python, PHP, Java, C#, or Go.
- Good knowledge of databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB or similar.
- Good understanding of REST APIs and web services.
- Knowledge of Git and version control.
- Understanding of authentication, authorisation, and web security.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to write clean and maintainable code.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with Node.js/Express, Laravel, Django, FastAPI, NestJS, or similar frameworks.
- Knowledge of cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with Docker and deployment processes.
- Knowledge of CI/CD.
- Experience integrating payment gateways and third-party APIs.
- Familiarity with Redis or other caching technologies.
- Understanding of Linux/server environments.
- Experience developing e-commerce or business management applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
