Associate Lawyer
Job summary
The successful candidate will provide legal advisory services, represent clients in contentious and non-contentious matters, and support the firm’s commitment to delivering exceptional legal solutions. The ideal candidate must possess strong advocacy, drafting, and analytical skills, with a minimum of five (5) years post-call experience.

Responsibilities:
Legal Advisory & Representation:
- Provide legal advice and opinions to clients on a broad range of legal matters.
- Represent clients in courts, tribunals, arbitration proceedings, and other dispute resolution forums.
- Prepare and present cases effectively before courts and regulatory bodies.
- Attend court proceedings, client meetings, and negotiations.
Legal Research & Drafting:
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and prepare well-reasoned legal opinions.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
- Prepare court processes, briefs, and other litigation-related documentation.
- Ensure all legal documents comply with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
Client Relationship Management:
- Maintain strong relationships with existing clients and provide exceptional client service.
- Participate in client meetings and provide strategic legal guidance.
- Manage client matters efficiently while ensuring timely communication and updates.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Advise clients on regulatory compliance and risk mitigation strategies.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments and provide updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with professional and ethical standards.
Business Development:
- Support the firm’s business development initiatives.
- Participate in networking events, seminars, and industry engagements to promote the firm’s services.
- Contribute to thought leadership initiatives, including articles, publications, and presentations.
Requirements:
- LL.B and B.L qualifications from accredited institutions.
- Valid Nigerian Bar practising licence.
- Minimum of 3 years post-call experience in litigation and/or corporate commercial practice.
- Proven experience handling complex legal matters independently.
- Excellent advocacy and courtroom skills.
- Strong legal drafting and research abilities.
- Sound knowledge of Nigerian laws and court procedures.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
