Responsibilities:
Assistant Architect, Design:
- Interpret and develop technically correct and complete drawings from sketches made by senior architects and conceptual/preliminary designs from clients
- Produce appropriate and correct technical details for building sections/construction. A good grasp of technical detailing
- Understand architectural design and clearly convey this in presentations
- Perform detailed materials take-off, quantity calculation with minimal errors
- Prepare Bills of Quantities
- Prepare brief design/architectural reports
- Write minutes of meeting, site visit reports
- Supervise NYSC & IT students posted to the unit
- Deputise for an Architect when absent
- Ensure design coordination on allocated projects, and exhibit soft skills in a supporting role
- Technically responsible for correctness and timely delivery of architectural services as provided by the department
- Assist in preparation of reports, cost analyses, calculations, details and specifications
- Ensure that PTN standards are met at all times
- All other duties assigned by the Line Manager
Assistant Architect, Procurement
In addition to the Assistant Architect - Design role, the job holder should be able to:
- Perform detailed materials take-off, quantity calculation with an excellent understanding of how to use the PTN / JBI short and long Room Finish Matrix spreadsheet with minimal errors
- Prepare Bills of Quantities using the PTN / JBI Stamm LV
- All other duties assigned by the Line Manager
Assistant Architect, Visualisation
In addition to the Assistant Architect - Design role, the job holder should be able to:
- Create and conceptualize strong visualizations, animations, and virtual reality, and possess an excellent understanding of architectural design, layout and presentation
- Make recommendations on design.
- Work closely with architectural design teams to plan and visualize construction projects.
- Keep up with the constant evolution of technology and architecture trends.
- Assist in visual architectural reports using various visualization tools.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience
- A minimum of a degree in a related field
- Excellent drafting skills
- Ability to interpret and develop technically correct and complete drawings from sketches made by senior architects and conceptual/preliminary designs from clients
- Knowledge of relevant Nigerian and British Standard building codes and relevant space standards/references, all for architectural design
- Ability to perform detailed materials take-off quantities calculation with minimal errors
- Proficient at preparing Bills of Quantities
- All other duties assigned by the Line Manager.
In addition to the functions above, the Assistant Architect will support the Quality Management System as itemised below:
- Perform support roles for Internal and external audits
- Understanding compliance requirements and how to work and manage within a regulatory environment
- Assist with training of quality awareness
- Conduct Quality Systems audits and assist in training/guidance to other auditors
- Collate quality data for monitoring targets
- Support process improvement activities
- All other duties assigned by the Line Manager.
