Job summary
Agronomist that can provide technical expertise in crop production, soil management, plant nutrition, pest and disease control, and sustainable agricultural practices. He will support farm operations, improving crop yield and quality, conducting field assessment and providing recommendations for profitability and productivity.

Responsibilities:
Agronomic Planning and Crop Management:
- Develop and implement crop production plans in line with organizational objectives.
- Monitor crop growth and development throughout the production cycle.
- Recommend appropriate planting schedules, crop varieties, and cultivation techniques.
- Provide guidance on irrigation, fertilization, and crop protection programs.
- Ensure compliance with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
Soil and Plant Health Management:
- Conduct soil sampling and interpret soil analysis reports.
- Develop soil fertility improvement programs and nutrient management plans.
- Monitor plant health and identify nutrient deficiencies, diseases, and pest infestations.
- Recommend suitable corrective and preventive measures.
Research and Field Trials:
- Design and conduct field trials to evaluate crop varieties, fertilizers, pesticides, and agricultural technologies.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret agronomic data.
- Prepare technical reports and recommendations based on research findings.
- Stay updated on emerging agricultural technologies and industry trends.
Pest and Disease Management:
- Monitor pest and disease occurrence across farm locations.
- Develop integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
- Recommend appropriate agrochemicals and application methods.
- Ensure safe handling and application of agricultural inputs.
Farm Advisory and Technical Support:
- Provide technical support to farm managers and field staff.
- Train farm personnel on agronomic best practices and modern farming techniques.
- Conduct regular farm visits and field inspections.
- Prepare agronomic reports and performance evaluations.
Compliance and Sustainability:
- Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Promote sustainable and climate-smart agricultural practices.
- Support certification and quality assurance initiatives where applicable.
- Maintain accurate records of agronomic activities and recommendations.
Reporting:
- Prepare periodic reports on crop performance, field observations, yield forecasts, and agronomic interventions.
- Present findings and recommendations to management.
Requirement:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, Agriculture, Plant Science, Agricultural Technology or a related field.
- A minimum of 3–5 years' proven experience in agronomy, crop production
- or commercial farming operations.
- Experience with field crop production, horticulture greenhouse management or plantation agriculture is an advantage.
- Experience conducting field trials and agricultural research will be desirable.
- Technical Competencies Strong knowledge of crop production systems and agronomic principles.
- Knowledge of soil fertility management and soil analysis interpretation.
- Understanding of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Familiarity with agricultural inputs Fertilizers herbicides and pesticides.
- Proficiency in data collection analysis and report writing.
- Knowledge of climate-smart and sustainable agricultural practices. Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word PowerPoint).
