Accountant

Responsibilities:

• Manage all accounting transactions and provide financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data, preparing reports
• Prepare budget forecasts
• Prepare, examine and publish financial statements in time
• Handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings
• Reconcile accounts payable and receivable
• Ensure timely bank payments
• Compute taxes and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements
• Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements
• Report on the company’s financial health and liquidity
• Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary
• Comply with financial policies and regulations

Requirements for this role: (Very key)

• B.Sc. or HND in Finance, Accounting; Accounting Technician will be considered if very sound.
• ACCA required (ICAN a plus)
• Conversant with FIRS/LIRS Laws
• Ability to perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision
• To work and deliver on assigned tasks within strict deadlines.

Skills:

• Minimum of 4 years Proven work experience as an Accountant
• Experience with general ledger functions and solid understanding of accounting payable/receivable principles, and the month-end/year-end close process;
• Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
• Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
• Proficiency in English and in MS Office
• Customer service orientation and negotiation skills with high sense of urgency in meeting goals and deadlines
• Must have effective written and verbal communication skills to build strong interpersonal relationships;
