Accountant
Job summary
Responsible for managing accounting records, preparing financial statements and partnership accounts, including partners’ capital and current accounts, profit-sharing and related adjustments. The role also involves reconciliations, transaction processing, financial reporting and compliance, using QuickBooks, Tally and Excel.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and financial transactions.
- Prepare and review partnership accounts.
- Prepare periodic financial statements, management accounts, schedules, and other financial reports.
- Record and process invoices, receipts, payments, expenses, journals, and other accounting transactions.
- Perform bank, cash, receivables, payables, and other account reconciliations.
- Monitor accounts receivable and payable and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Prepare and maintain supporting schedules and working papers for financial reporting and audit purposes.
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support audit, tax, and other financial reporting engagements by providing accurate accounting records and relevant documentation.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of accounting records and supporting documents.
- Use accounting software, including QuickBooks and Tally, to process transactions and generate financial reports.
- Identify accounting discrepancies and resolve or escalate them appropriately.
- Assist with budgeting, cash flow monitoring, and other financial analysis as required.
- Ensure compliance with the Firm's accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Liaise with clients, auditors, tax authorities, and other relevant stakeholders where required.
- Perform other accounting and financial duties as may be assigned.
Requirements:
- B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years' relevant accounting experience.
- Demonstrable experience in partnership accounts and partner-related transactions is required.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks and Tally).
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and account reconciliation.
- Experience preparing financial statements and accounting schedules.
- Professional qualification or membership of ICAN, ACCA, or another recognised accounting body will be an advantage.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
