Accountant

Responsibilities:

Financial Record Management:

• Manage the general ledger and perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
• Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accurate allocation to appropriate accounts.
• Perform regular bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations.

Accounts Payable (AP) & Accounts Receivable (AR):

• Oversee and process invoices, ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors.
• Manage customer billing, collections, and application of customer payments.
• Monitor aging reports for both AP and AR, actively resolving discrepancies.

Inventory & Cost Accounting:

• Maintain accurate inventory records, performing reconciliations between physical counts and system balances.
• Calculate and analyze the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and inventory valuation adjustments (e.g., shrinkage, obsolescence).
• Track and analyze operational expenses related to distribution, warehousing, and logistics.

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow).
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and improved efficiency.

Tax & Compliance:

• Assist with the preparation of state and federal tax filings, including sales and use tax for retail operations.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Participate in internal and external audits as required.

Requirements:

• HND
• 3 years experience
• Proven proficiency with accounting software and Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
