Job summary
The hotel accountant is responsible for managing the financial operations of the hotel, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and effective cost control. The role involves overseeing daily accounting activities, monitoring revenue streams, and supporting management with financial insights for strategic decision-making.
Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports
- Manage daily revenue reconciliation (rooms, restaurant, bar, events, etc.)
- Monitor cash flow, bank reconciliations, and ledger balances
- Process payroll and statutory deductions
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and statutory requirements
- Conduct internal audits and implement financial controls
- Monitor budgets and control operational costs
- Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is an advantage
- A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience (hospitality experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of accounting software and MS Excel
- Good understanding of tax laws and financial regulations
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
