Job summary
Homik Engineering is seeking an experienced Accountant in Lagos to manage financial records, payroll, tax compliance, reporting, budgeting, cash flow, and audits. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree, 4+ years’ experience, ICAN/ACCA certification, and strong Excel/accounting software skills.

Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, journals, and reconciliations.
- Prepare financial statements and reports in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoicing and payments.
- Conduct monthly payroll processing, employee expense reimbursement, and ensure payroll accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian tax laws, including VAT, PAYE, WHT, and corporate tax filings.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Post and monitor staff advances and the salary/tax benefits scheme (TBS).
- Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory agencies.
- Monitor financial transactions and ensure adherence to company financial policies.
- Utilize accounting software to manage financial data efficiently.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.
- Record and track cash and bank transactions, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
- Prepare annual and quarterly management reports in line with business requirements.
Secondary Duties:
- Analyze financial performance using key metrics and provide insights for strategic decision-making.
- Evaluate costs and recommend strategies to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
- Develop financial models and forecasts to support business planning and decision-making.
- Monitor and optimize cash flow to ensure liquidity and operational sustainability.
- Provide advice on investment opportunities, funding options, and risk management strategies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably within the oil and gas or EPC sector.
- Professional certification such as ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria) or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is required.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, financial regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, ZohoBooks, or SAP) is an asset.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other financial reporting tools.
