Job summary
We are looking to hire a senior Accountant to join our amazing team.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Review and manage financial accounts for a specific vessel, processing voyage expenses, and reviewing port and other related bills.
- Lead corporate financial strategy, budgeting, and business planning processes.
- Oversee accounting and financial reporting processes and internal controls in compliance with IFRS and local regulations, including the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including financial statement preparation, reconciliation, and analysis.
- Review and approve journal entries, adjustments, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses to support decision-making and strategic planning.
- Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory agencies to facilitate audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and financial performance metrics to identify risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to senior management to support business decisions and initiatives.
- Mentor, coach, and develop accounting staff, providing guidance, support, andprofessional development opportunities.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on finance-related projects.
- Communicate financial results and provide financial advice and recommendations to
- management for decision-making, such as investment opportunities or cost-saving strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- A professional accounting qualification (ICAN, ACCA, CPA or equivalent) is mandatory.
- Minimum of 7–10 years’ relevant accounting experience, with proven experience
- leading an accounting team.
- Strong leadership and people-management capability.
- Expert knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting, and statutory compliance.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- High integrity, attention to detail, and sound professional judgment.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Accuracy and timeliness of financial statements and reports.
- Compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements.
- Effectiveness of internal controls and audit outcomes.
