Accountant
Job summary
The Accountant manages day-to-day accounting operations including bookkeeping, payroll processing, PAYE and statutory deductions, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and preparation of financial reports, while ensuring tax compliance and supporting budgeting, audits, and management reporting.

Responsibilities:
Basic Accounting & Bookkeeping:
- Record and maintain accurate financial transactions in the accounting system.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bookkeeping activities.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Reconcile bank statements, cash books, and ledger accounts.
Payroll & PAYE:
- Process monthly payroll accurately and on time.
- Calculate salaries, wages, overtime, allowances, deductions, and benefits.
- Manage PAYE calculations, submissions, and statutory payroll reports.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and payroll-related regulations.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee tax information.
Taxation & Statutory Compliance:
- Prepare and submit tax returns in accordance with applicable tax laws.
- Ensure timely payment and filing of PAYE, income tax, and other statutory deductions.
- Liaise with tax authorities regarding queries, audits, and assessments.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and implement necessary updates.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Process supplier invoices and prepare payments.
- Issue customer invoices and manage debtor collections.
- Reconcile supplier and customer accounts.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Provide management with accurate financial information for decision-making.
Internal Controls & Audit Support:
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Maintain proper documentation and financial records for audit purposes.
General Duties:
- Maintain organized accounting and tax files.
- Support management with financial and administrative tasks.
- Perform other accounting duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and payroll processing.
- Experience with PAYE and statutory compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
