Job summary

We are hiring a detail-oriented Accountant to manage payroll, tax compliance, and financial records. You will ensure accurate payroll, timely statutory filings (PAYE, VAT, WHT, pensions), and maintain audit-ready books. Ideal for candidates with strong accounting skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.

 Responsibilities:

Payroll & Employee Compensation:

  • Prepare and process accurate monthly payroll for all employees.
  • Generate and issue payslips.
  • Calculate and manage all deductions (PAYE, pensions, loans, benefits, etc.).
  • Ensure payroll aligns with staff contracts and company policies.


Tax & Statutory Compliance:

  • Calculate, file, and remit all statutory obligations, including: PAYE, Pension contributions, ITF, NSITF, VAT, and Withholding Tax (WHT).
  • Ensure strict compliance with FIRS and state tax regulations.
  • Maintain a compliance calendar and ensure zero missed deadlines.
  • Keep proper records of all filings, receipts, and confirmations.


Financial Records & Reconciliation:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Record and classify all transactions correctly.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure every transaction is supported by proper documentation.

4. Reporting & Analysis

  • Assist in preparing monthly financial reports.
  • Track expenses and support budget monitoring.
  • Provide clear and accurate financial data for decision-making.
  • Flag discrepancies, risks, or unusual transactions early.


Operations & Internal Control:

  • Support payment processing and vendor management.
  • Maintain organised financial documentation in shared systems.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all financial and employee data.
  • Follow and improve existing accounting processes and systems.
  • Assist with periodic administrative duties.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience (payroll + tax experience required).
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and statutory compliance.
  • Experience handling PAYE, VAT, WHT, pensions, ITF, NSITF.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or similar).
  • Strong Excel skills (reconciliations, reports, payroll schedules).
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • ICAN (in progress or completed) (Not Mandatory).
  • Experience in multi-entity or fast-growing companies (Not Mandatory).
  • Experience handling payroll for 10+ employees.
