Accountant

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure timely submission of financial reports to management.
• Monitor and report on financial performance, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Develop and maintain budgets for the restaurant and lounge.
• Conduct financial forecasting and variance analysis.
• Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial data.

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

• Manage and oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes.
• Ensure timely payment of invoices and follow up on outstanding receivables.
• Reconcile vendor and customer accounts.

Inventory and Cost Control:

• Monitor and analyze inventory levels to ensure accurate costing.
• Work closely with the procurement and kitchen teams to manage food and beverage costs.
• Implement cost control measures to maximize profitability.

Tax Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with all tax regulations, including VAT, PAYE, and corporate tax.
• Prepare and file tax returns promptly.
• Liaise with tax authorities and external auditors as needed.

Payroll Management:

• Oversee the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payment of staff salaries.
• Maintain records of employee earnings, deductions, and benefits.
• Ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations.

Internal Controls:

• Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Conduct regular audits to ensure financial integrity and compliance.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks.

Financial Analysis and Decision Support:

• Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions.
• Prepare financial models and projections for new projects or business initiatives.
• Assist in evaluating the financial impact of operational changes.

Bank Reconciliation:

• Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial records.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.

Team Collaboration:

• Work closely with other departments (e.g., operations, procurement, HR) to ensure alignment of financial objectives.
• Provide training and guidance to non-financial staff on financial matters.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Professional accounting certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and financial regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:

• The role may require working outside regular business hours, especially during peak seasons.
• The Accountant will be based at the restaurant and lounge, with occasional visits to suppliers or clients.
