Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure timely submission of financial reports to management.
- Monitor and report on financial performance, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop and maintain budgets for the restaurant and lounge.
- Conduct financial forecasting and variance analysis.
- Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial data.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Manage and oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Ensure timely payment of invoices and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Reconcile vendor and customer accounts.
Inventory and Cost Control:
- Monitor and analyze inventory levels to ensure accurate costing.
- Work closely with the procurement and kitchen teams to manage food and beverage costs.
- Implement cost control measures to maximize profitability.
Tax Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all tax regulations, including VAT, PAYE, and corporate tax.
- Prepare and file tax returns promptly.
- Liaise with tax authorities and external auditors as needed.
Payroll Management:
- Oversee the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payment of staff salaries.
- Maintain records of employee earnings, deductions, and benefits.
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations.
Internal Controls:
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure financial integrity and compliance.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks.
Financial Analysis and Decision Support:
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions.
- Prepare financial models and projections for new projects or business initiatives.
- Assist in evaluating the financial impact of operational changes.
Bank Reconciliation:
- Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., operations, procurement, HR) to ensure alignment of financial objectives.
- Provide training and guidance to non-financial staff on financial matters.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Professional accounting certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions:
- The role may require working outside regular business hours, especially during peak seasons.
- The Accountant will be based at the restaurant and lounge, with occasional visits to suppliers or clients.
