Accountant

Responsibilities:

Core Accounting Functions:

• Handle day-to-day accounting activities: accounts receivable/payable, general ledger, bank reconciliation, and asset management.
• Post and validate journal entries in ERP systems (especially Odoo).
• Prepare financial statements – P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow reports.
• Monitor inventory valuation, cost centres, and expense tracking.

 ERP Financial Module Management:

• Configure and manage accounting processes within the ERP (chart of accounts, tax setup, payment terms, journals).
• Support ERP financial module implementation for both internal operations and external client projects.
• Participate in financial UAT testing, system validation, and troubleshooting.
• Ensure accuracy of automated postings from modules such as Sales, Purchases, Inventory, Payroll, etc.

Compliance, Reporting & Controls:

• Ensure adherence to IFRS, GAAP, and Nigerian tax regulations (VAT, WHT, PAYE, CIT).
• Prepare tax returns and statutory filings.
• Maintain audit trails, approval workflows, and financial controls within ERP.
• Assist internal and external auditors where required.

Financial Analysis & Decision Support:

• Conduct variance analysis, profitability tracking, and financial performance reviews.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making.

Process Optimisation & Documentation:

• Analyse financial workflows and recommend improvements for efficiency.
• Document SOPs for financial processes within the ERP ecosystem.
• Train finance team members or clients on ERP financial features and best practices

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (ICAN/ACCA certification or ongoing is an advantage).
• 1–5 years hands-on accounting experience (ERP/tech-driven environment preferred).
• Working knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP) and Nigerian tax/regulatory compliance (VAT, WHT, PAYE, CIT, etc.).
• Strong experience with ERP systems — Odoo (preferred), SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, or QuickBooks Enterprise.
• Proven ability to manage financial workflows: GL postings, bank reconciliation, AP/AR, asset management, inventory costing, and accruals.
• Familiarity with Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Order-to-Cash (O2C), and Record-to-Report (R2R) workflows.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, IF statements, conditional formatting) and data analysis tools.
• Experience in financial reporting, variance analysis, budgeting, and cost control.
