Accountant

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
  
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reports.
  

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

• Manage the accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments.
• Monitor outstanding payments and follow up with clients and suppliers as necessary.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Monitor budget performance and report discrepancies to the Finance Manager.

Reconciliation:

• Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, supplier accounts, and internal records.
  
• Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in financial records.
  

Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and prepare necessary documentation for tax filings.
  
• Assist in internal and external audits by providing required financial documents and information.
  

Inventory Accounting:

• Monitor inventory levels and ensure accurate recording of inventory transactions in the accounting system.
  
• Collaborate with the inventory management team to reconcile inventory accounts.
  

Record Keeping:

• Maintain organised financial records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  
• Ensure proper documentation for all financial transactions.
  

Financial Analysis:

• Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
  
• Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial analysis.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a retail or supermarket environment.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
