Job summary

The Account Officer will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing daily accounting operations, supporting cost control, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and statutory requirements within the manufacturing environment.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain proper books of accounts, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
  • Prepare and process invoices, payment vouchers, and receipts
  • Monitor production costs, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold (COGS)
  • Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and customer accounts
  • Track expenses and support budgeting and cost-control initiatives
  • Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
  • Ensure accurate recording of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods
  • Support stock counts and inventory audits
  • Prepare statutory deductions and filings (VAT, WHT, PAYE, etc.)
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing required documentation
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Perform other finance-related duties as assigned by management


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing company
  • Knowledge of cost accounting and inventory management is an added advantage
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Good understanding of financial reporting standards and tax regulations
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Proximity to VGC, Lagos
