Account /Finance Lead
Job summary
The role oversees financial operations, regulatory compliance, treasury activities, and financial planning while providing strategic financial insights to support business growth and ensuring compliance with CBN regulations, IFRS, and statutory requirements.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Lead the bank's day-to-day finance and accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, general ledger management, and financial reporting.
- Oversee the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS, CBN regulations, and internal governance standards.
- Manage budgeting, financial planning, forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making and business performance.
- Monitor treasury operations, cash flow, liquidity, and bank reconciliations to ensure adequate funding and efficient financial management.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory obligations, CBN reporting requirements, and coordinate internal and external audit activities.
- Develop and maintain strong financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard organizational assets and improve operational efficiency.
- Provide financial analysis, management reports, and data-driven insights to support executive management and board-level decision-making.
- Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. A Master's degree (MBA or MSc in Finance) is an added advantage.
- ACA or ACCA certification is required. CIBN certification is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or financial management within the banking, fintech, or financial services industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, treasury management, cash flow planning, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong understanding of IFRS, CBN regulations, statutory reporting requirements, and internal control frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to provide financial analysis, support strategic planning, and improve financial performance through data-driven insights.
- Proficiency in accounting systems, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools.
- Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced digital banking environment.
