Vulcanizer

Responsibilities:

• Inspect vehicle tyres regularly to identify punctures, cuts, leaks, wear and other forms of damage.
• Repair punctured and damaged tyres using appropriate vulcanizing techniques and equipment.
• Remove, fit, inflate, and replace tyres when necessary.
• Carry out tyre rotation and wheel balancing where required.
• Monitor tyre pressure and ensure tyres are maintained at recommended pressure levels.
• Identify tyres that are worn out or unsafe and recommend replacement.
• Maintain and properly handle vulcanizing machines, compressors, jacks, and other tyre repair tools.
• Keep accurate records of tyre repairs, replacements, and maintenance activities.
• Ensure all tyre-related tasks are carried out in line with safety standards.
• Work closely with drivers and the maintenance team to address tyre-related issues promptly.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor or management.

Requirements:

• Minimum of SSCE, with relevant vocational training or apprenticeship experience in tyre repairs and maintenance.
• A technical qualification in Automotive Technology or Motor Vehicle Mechanics is an added advantage.
• Proven experience as a Vulcanizer or Tyre Technician.
• Good knowledge of tyre repairs, fitting, inflation, and replacement.
• Ability to operate tyre repair equipment and tools.
• Knowledge of different types and sizes of vehicle tyres, particularly truck and heavy-duty vehicle tyres.
• Ability to identify tyre defects and determine when repairs or replacements are necessary.
• Good attention to detail and safety consciousness.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
