Responsibilities:
Sales & Distribution:
- Sell FMCG products directly from the sales van to assigned retail outlets (e.g., groceries, mini-markets, kiosks, wholesalers).
- Achieve daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets (volume, value, and SKU mix).
- Ensure maximum numeric and weighted distribution within the assigned route.
- Introduce new products, promotions, and schemes to retailers and drive effective execution.
- Identify opportunities to open new outlets and expand route coverage.
- Route & Territory Management
- Follow the approved daily route plan and visit all assigned outlets consistently.
- Ensure proper route productivity, outlet coverage, and call efficiency.
- Plan stock loading based on route demand, outlet potential, and historical sales.
Merchandising & Visibility:
- Ensure accurate product display, proper shelf placement, and optimal visibility at retail outlets.
- Maintain planograms, POS materials, and promotional displays as per company guidelines.
- Monitor product freshness, expiry dates, and stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO).
Stock & Van Management:
- Maintain accurate van stock levels and ensure zero variance.
- Be responsible for van inventory, including loading, unloading, and returns.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and safety of products in the van.
- Maintain the van's cleanliness and report any maintenance issues promptly.
Cash & Documentation:
- Collect cash, cheques, or digital payments from customers as per company policy.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of cash, invoices, and related documents.
- Prepare daily sales reports, stock reconciliation, and route feedback.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with retailers.
- Address customer concerns, complaints, and service issues promptly.
- Act as the company’s brand ambassador in the market.
Market Intelligence & Reporting:
- Gather market intelligence on competitor pricing, promotions, and activities.
- Provide regular feedback on customer needs, market trends, and route performance.
- Report issues related to distribution gaps, stock movement, or credit risks.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Achievement of sales volume and value targets
- Outlet coverage and route productivity
- Numeric and weighted distribution
- SKU penetration per outlet
- Cash collection accuracy and zero variance
- Stock freshness and expiry control
Requirements:
- Minimum: High School / Secondary Education
- A diploma or a bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, or Business is an advantage
Experience:
- 1–3 years of experience in FMCG sales, preferably in van sales or route sales
- Experience handling cash sales and retail distribution is highly preferred
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong selling and negotiation skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic numeracy and reporting skills
- Ability to work independently and meet targets
- Customer-focused and result-oriented mindset
Technical & Other Requirements:
- Valid driving license (mandatory)
- Ability to drive a commercial van
- Physically fit to handle the loading/unloading of goods
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel or sales handheld devices (if applicable)
