Underground Mining Operator
Job summary
We are seeking dedicated and motivated individuals to join our underground mining team. This role is open to fresh graduates who are eager to learn and gain valuable skills to enhance their careers, as well as experienced underground mining professionals with proven knowledge of underground operations. An underground mine operator is a skilled professional who operates heavy, specialized machinery to extract coal, minerals, and ore or to construct tunnels and shafts in underground mines. They are responsible for drilling, blasting, loading, and transporting materials, while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Machine Operation: Operating equipment such as continuous miners, longwall machines, drills, and Load-Haul-Dump (LHD) machines.
- Production & Development: Drilling, blasting, and mucking (removing broken rock) to advance tunnels.
- Safety & Maintenance: Inspecting machinery for defects, reporting hazards, and performing routine maintenance on equipment like hydraulic hoses.
- Material Handling: Loading, hauling, and dumping materials at designated underground or surface locations.
- Documentation: Recording production data, such as car numbers and tonnage, to track
- Operating underground mining machines (e.g., drill rigs, loaders, roof bolters)
- Transporting ore or materials through tunnels
- Monitoring equipment and underground conditions
- Following safety, ventilation, and emergency procedures
- Assisting with tunnel stability and ground support
Requirements:
- National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), and BSc/B.Eng. (Bachelor of Engineering) in Engineering, Geology, Geography, or any related discipline.
- Patient, detail-oriented, and able to carefully guide fellow workers
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Not afraid of hard work strong hands-on, and practical abilities
- Diligent, hardworking, and quick to learn
- Strong sense of responsibility
- High level of safety awareness
Internship & Salary Details:
- Internship period: 3 months
- Internship salary: ₦100,000.00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira)
- Performance bonuses available during the internship period
- Salary after the internship will be determined based on job performance
