Role Description
This is a part-time, remote volunteer role for a Stocks Content Writer at Insights.ng. The Stocks Content Writer will research listed companies on the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX), analyze financial statements and disclosures, and translate complex market data into clear, engaging written content. Typical tasks include drafting stock analysis articles, updating company and sector profiles, and supporting broader editorial themes related to market movements and macroeconomic trends. The person in this role will collaborate with editors and analysts to refine story angles, ensure accuracy, and align content with Insights.ng’s standards for independence and objectivity. The role may also involve contributing ideas for new stock coverage, supporting basic data collection, and optimizing content for digital readership and shareability.
Qualifications
- Strong writing and editing skills, including the ability to present financial and market concepts clearly for a non-expert audience.
- Foundational understanding of capital markets, equities, and how listed companies are valued, ideally with familiarity with the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX).
- Ability to read and interpret financial statements, earnings releases, and regulatory filings, or willingness to learn quickly.
- Research skills, including sourcing credible data, fact-checking, and synthesizing multiple information sources into coherent narratives.
- Comfort working independently in a remote environment, managing part-time hours, and meeting agreed deadlines.
- Demonstrated interest in Nigerian markets, investing, corporate governance, or macroeconomics (e.g., prior articles, projects, or coursework).
- Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Journalism, or a related field is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Experience with basic digital publishing tools (e.g., Google Docs, content management systems) and collaborative platforms (e.g., Slack, email) is a plus.
