Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Leading the quantity surveying team and overseeing all aspects of cost management for construction projects.
- Conducting detailed cost estimates and preparing tender documents for project bids.
- Analyzing project specifications and drawings to identify and quantify materials, labor, and other costs.
- Developing and maintaining project budgets, monitoring costs, and identifying areas for cost savings or value engineering.
- Negotiating contracts and agreements with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
- Reviewing and approving subcontractor payment applications and invoices in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Providing financial reporting and analysis to project stakeholders, including progress reports, cost forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Managing change orders and claims and assessing their impact on project costs and schedules.
- Conducting risk assessments and implementing risk management strategies to mitigate project risks.
- Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to optimize project delivery and achieve cost-effective solutions.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and industry standards related to quantity surveying and cost management
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related field. A master's degree or professional certification (e.g., RICS) is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quantity surveying and cost management for construction projects, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost control techniques
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex project data and make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office suite, with advanced skills in Excel.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Leadership and team management abilities, with a collaborative and proactive approach to achieving project goals.
- Attention to detail and accuracy, with a focus on delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and work flexible hours as needed.
