Job summary

We are seeking a responsible and hands-on Sawmill & Timber Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day activities of our sawmill operations and timber truck activities. The ideal candidate should be able to supervise staff, coordinate daily operations, monitor activities closely, and ensure that work is carried out efficiently and responsibly. This role requires someone with a strong sense of responsibility, good observation skills, and an eye for detail.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise daily activities across the sawmill and timber operations.
  • Manage and monitor staff to ensure assigned duties are properly carried out.
  • Supervise the movement and activities of timber trucks.
  • Monitor production activities and ensure smooth workflow.
  • Keep track of timber, materials, equipment, and operational activities.
  • Ensure staff follow operational procedures and safety requirements.
  • Identify and report issues, losses, damages, or irregularities promptly.
  • Maintain basic records of daily activities, production, staff, and truck movements.
  • Ensure equipment and work areas are properly maintained.
  • Coordinate with management on operational needs and challenges.
  • Promote discipline, accountability, and efficiency among staff.
  • Perform other duties related to the smooth running of the operations.


Requirements:

  • Previous experience in sawmill, timber, transport, forestry, construction, farm, or similar operations is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong ability to supervise and coordinate people.
  • Highly responsible, observant, and detail-oriented.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Ability to keep basic operational records.
  • Must be willing and able to live/work in a village or rural environment in Calabar.
  • A university degree is not mandatory; relevant practical experience and proven ability to manage operations will be considered.

  • The ideal candidate is a hands-on and dependable supervisor who can take ownership of daily operations
  • Keep a close eye on staff and activities
  • Identify problems early, and ensure that work gets done properly without constant supervision.


Location: Calabar, Cross River State
