Sales Development Representative
Job summary
This is a high-impact, high-autonomy role for a sharp B2B sales professional who wants to own the top of the funnel at a fast-moving RegTech startup. You will be the first point of contact for companies that need VerifyAfrica’s infrastructure, and the person who gets us in front of the right decision-makers. You are not selling software features.

Responsibilities:
- Identify, prospect, and develop new business opportunities across target industries and markets.
- Generate qualified leads through outbound sales activities, networking, referrals, and digital prospecting tools.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with compliance officers, product managers, business leaders, and C-suite executives.
- Present and demonstrate company products and solutions to prospective clients.
- Manage the complete sales cycle from lead generation to negotiation, closing, and account handover.
- Understand client needs and position solutions that address compliance, identity verification, regulatory, and operational challenges.
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve and exceed revenue targets.
- Maintain accurate sales records, pipeline forecasts, and activity tracking within the CRM system.
- Collaborate closely with marketing, product, and customer success teams to optimize customer acquisition and retention strategies.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging market opportunities.
- Provide regular sales reports, pipeline updates, and performance insights to management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, economics, finance, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of proven experience in B2B sales, business development, or account management.
- Demonstrated success selling SaaS solutions, fintech products, APIs, compliance tools, regulatory technology, or similar enterprise solutions.
- Strong track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to confidently engage senior stakeholders, including compliance officers, product managers, and C-suite executives.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote and fast-paced startup environment.
- Strong organisational skills with disciplined CRM management and pipeline tracking practices.
