Route Mapping & Optimization Officer
Job summary
We are looking for a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and execution-driven Route Mapping & Optimization Officer to support the planning, mapping, and continuous optimization of sales territories, delivery routes, and outlet coverage across our markets.

Responsibilities:
Route Mapping & RTM Planning:
- Map and maintain sales territories, outlets, and delivery routes.
- Support territory allocation, outlet segmentation, and route planning.
- Identify route overlaps, coverage gaps, and inefficient territories.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date route and outlet information.
Route Optimization & Field Productivity:
- Analyze routes and recommend improvements to reduce delivery time, distance, and cost.
- Optimize routes based on outlet coverage, traffic, delivery schedules, and field realities.
- Support call-cycle and route productivity planning.
- Work with field teams to validate and implement optimized routes.
Data Management & Analysis:
- Clean, validate, and maintain outlet, customer, territory, and route data.
- Analyze large volumes of sales and distribution data to identify trends, gaps, and inefficiencies.
- Conduct outlet verification and support accurate geo-tagging and territory allocation.
- Translate data into practical recommendations for Sales and Operations.
Sales Performance Reporting & Dashboards:
- Develop route, territory, and sales performance reports for management.
- Track key metrics including route productivity, outlet coverage, delivery performance, and sales execution.
- Use Excel and Power BI to create dashboards and visualize performance.
- Provide insights to support data-driven decision-making.
Systems & Application Support:
- Support the use and adoption of SFA/CRM systems relevant to route-to-market operations.
- Work with IT to resolve route, mapping, and sales-system data issues.
- Support GPS/telematics and other digital tools used for route and field-performance monitoring.
- Provide first-level support and guidance to field users where required.
Cross-Functional & Field Support:
- Work closely with Sales, Logistics/Distribution, IT, and Operations teams.
- Support Area Sales Managers, Van Sales Representatives, drivers, and other field teams on route-related activities.
- Communicate route insights and recommendations clearly to management and relevant stakeholders.
- Support the implementation of new route structures and process improvements.
Key Deliverables:
- Accurate and up-to-date route, territory, outlet, and delivery-point maps.
- Optimized routes with reduced overlaps, inefficiencies, delivery time, and operating costs.
- Improved outlet coverage and route productivity.
- Improved on-time delivery and product freshness.
- Clean and reliable outlet, customer, and route databases.
- Reliable route and sales-performance reports and dashboards.
- Improved adoption and compliance with assigned routes and territories.
Requirements:
- HND in Business Administration, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Logistics, Geography, or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in Route-to-Market, Sales Operations, Territory Planning, Outlet Mapping, Route Optimization, or Application Support.
- Experience with outlet mapping, geo-tagging, territory segmentation, or route planning.
- Experience cleaning and maintaining large outlet/customer databases.
- Experience supporting SFA implementation or user adoption.
- Experience working with field sales, delivery, or distribution teams.
- Experience with CRM/ERP, GIS/mapping, or route-optimization tools is an added advantage.
- Experience in FMCG, Retail, Food & Beverage, or Distribution is an added advantage.
Additional Requirement:
- Must possess a valid driver’s licence and be able to drive confidently
- Ability to ride a motorcycle/bike is an added advantage.
- Willingness to travel across sales territories and conduct field visit when required

- Knowledge of Power BI, GIS, GPS/telematics, and SFA/CRM systems is an added advantage.
- Ability to drive and possession of a valid driver’s licence; motorcycle riding is an added advantage.
- Willingness to travel across sales territories for field mapping, outlet verification, and route validation.
