Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and practical sessions across a range of nursing subjects, integrating theory with clinical practice.
  • Design and implement effective teaching strategies, leveraging the college's advanced technological resources to enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Conduct regular assessments of student performance through exams, practical evaluations, clinical rotations, and research projects.
  • Provide comprehensive academic advising and mentorship to nursing students, supporting their professional and personal development.
  • Actively participate in curriculum development and review processes, ensuring alignment with current nursing practices, NMCN standards, and global healthcare trends.
  • Foster strong relationships with clinical partners to facilitate valuable student placements and real-world learning experiences.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including conducting research, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at nursing conferences.
  • Contribute to the college's quality assurance processes, accreditation efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in interdisciplinary projects and committees to enhance the overall educational experience at MCNS.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging healthcare technologies and incorporate them into the nursing curriculum.


Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in nursing required; Ph.D. in Nursing or related field strongly preferred.
  • Current, valid registration and license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) with no restrictions.
  • Minimum of 7 years clinical nursing experience, with at least 3 years in nursing education at the tertiary level.
  • Demonstrated expertise in multiple areas of nursing practice and education, such as medical-surgical, pediatric, or community health nursing.
  • Strong knowledge of current nursing practices, educational theories, and innovative teaching methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, inspire, and mentor diverse groups of students.
  • Advanced proficiency in using educational technology, simulation equipment, and e-learning platforms.
  • Proven ability to develop comprehensive curricula, create effective assessment tools, and evaluate program outcomes.
  • Strong research skills with a track record of scholarly publications and grant acquisitions preferred.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development, including staying current with nursing trends and educational best practices.
  • Experience in guiding students through research projects and clinical practicum experiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to a positive academic culture.
  • Physical presence at Merit College of Nursing Sciences in Orlu, Imo State is required for this role, including participation in clinical supervision and off-site educational activities.
