Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
Pre-Contract Services:
- Prepare preliminary and detailed cost estimates
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ)
- Prepare material and labour schedules from the BOQ
- Reconcile Material supply and use with the central store
- Provide value engineering recommendations
Contract Administration:
- Prepare and review contract documents
- Advise on contractual obligations and cost implications
- Assist in sub-contractor selection and negotiations
Post-Contract Services:
- Monitor project costs and budgets
- Prepare interim valuations and payment certificates
- Evaluate variations and claims
- Track and manage project expenditures
- Provide cost reports and forecasts
- Ensure financial compliance with project budget
Project Close-Out:
- Prepare final accounts
- Reconcile project costs
- Advise on cost savings and lessons learned
Deliverables:
The Quantity Surveyor shall provide:
- Cost estimates and cost plans
- Bills of Quantities (BOQ)
- Material/Labour schedules
- Productivity Records on Site
- Monthly/periodic cost reports
- Interim payment certificates
- Variation and claims reports
- Final account statement
Requirements:
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field
- Professional membership (e.g., NIQS, RICS)
- Minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience
- Proven experience in similar projects
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts and cost management
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Attention to detail
- Proficiency in cost estimation software and Excel
- Contract negotiation and management skills
- Communication and reporting skills
