Job summary
The QA/QC Officer (Construction & Concrete Works) is responsible for ensuring that all construction activities and concrete mixing operations comply with approved standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. The role focuses on maintaining high-quality workmanship, monitoring concrete production and placement.

Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Control:
- Develop, implement, and enforce Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) plans for construction projects.
- Ensure all works comply with project specifications, drawings, BOQs, and applicable standards (ASTM, BS, or local standards).
- Conduct routine site inspections to verify the quality of workmanship and materials.
- Identify quality defects, issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
Concrete Mixing & Batching Operations:
- Supervise concrete mix designs, batching, mixing, transportation, placing, and curing processes.
- Ensure proper calibration and effective operation of concrete batching plants and mixing equipment.
- Monitor concrete tests, including slump tests, cube tests, compressive strength tests, and material sampling.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of cement, aggregates, admixtures, and reinforcement materials.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain QA/QC records, inspection checklists, test results, and site reports.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly QA/QC reports for management review.
- Ensure all quality documentation is properly filed and available for audits and inspections.
Compliance & Standards:
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, industry standards, and client requirements.
- Liaise with consultants, clients, and regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.
- Support internal and external quality audits and ensure closure of audit findings.
Training & Coordination:
- Train site engineers, supervisors, and workers on quality standards and best practices.
- Work closely with project managers, site engineers, HSE officers, and procurement teams to ensure quality alignment.
- Provide technical guidance on quality-related issues during construction activities.
Requirements:
- HND or B.Sc. in Civil Engineering, Building Technology, or a related discipline.
- QA/QC, or Quality Management, certification is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3–5 years experience in QA/QC for construction and concrete works.
- Strong knowledge of concrete technology, batching plants, and testing procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, BOQs, and specifications.
- Good documentation, reporting, and communication skills.
- Willingness to work on-site within Zamfara State
