Role Description The Production Optimization and Digitalization Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Benin City. The role involves analyzing production data from oil and gas assets, identifying bottlenecks, and recommending optimization strategies to improve output and efficiency. The engineer will design, implement, and maintain digital solutions and automation workflows that connect field devices, production systems, and decision-support tools. Day-to-day responsibilities include building and maintaining production models, monitoring network performance, troubleshooting operational issues, and collaborating with subsurface, production, and IT teams. The role also includes documenting technical solutions, preparing reports and dashboards for stakeholders, supporting technology pilots, and ensuring that all optimization and digitalization initiatives align with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Optimization and Network Optimization for production systems and field networks.
- Solid Analytical Skills with the ability to interpret large data sets and derive actionable insights.
- Proficiency in Programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or similar) to develop models, scripts, and automation workflows.
- Understanding of Wireless Technologies and field communication systems used in oilfield digitalization.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with production engineering, production surveillance, or asset optimization in the oil and gas sector.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, industrial automation, IoT devices, and real-time data platforms is an advantage.
- Knowledge of reservoir and production concepts for both clastic and carbonate fields is beneficial.
- Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex technical concepts in clear, concise language.
