Production Manager

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all production activities to ensure daily, weekly, and monthly targets are met in line with quality standards, customer requirements, and operational efficiency goals. The role ensures optimal resource allocation, machine utilization, workflow stability, and cross-departmental coordination. The Production Manager also drives continuous improvement, cost control, workforce supervision, and compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. The position reports to the Factory Manager.
Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage production schedules in alignment with customer orders and capacity plans.
  
• Oversee production line activities to ensure compliance with manufacturing procedures, quality standards, and process guidelines.
  
• Lead daily production meetings and coordinate with QA, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Planning teams.
  
• Monitor production performance indicators including output, efficiency, scrap rate, downtime, and labor utilization.
  
• Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective measures to optimize workflow.
  
• Ensure compliance with EHS policies, machine safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Supervise production supervisors, shift leaders, and line operators.
  
• Support investigations into non-conformities, equipment breakdowns, and process deviations.
• Communicate and escalate issues affecting production capacity or product quality.
  
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing, waste reduction, and process standardization.
  
• Collaborate with Maintenance to schedule preventive maintenance.
  
• Monitor material availability and coordinate with Warehouse and Procurement.
  
• Prepare weekly and monthly production reports.
  
• Promote teamwork, discipline, and adherence to HR policies and operational code of conduct.
  

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial/Production Management, or related field.
  
• Minimum 10 years’ relevant production experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  
• Proven experience managing large-scale production operations.
  
• Proficiency in production planning tools, Microsoft Office, and reporting systems.
  
• Relevant Certifications (preferred):Nigerian: COREN (for engineers, if applicable), ISPON safety certification, NIMechE or related membership. International (added advantage): Lean/Kaizen certifications, Six Sigma (Yellow/Green Belt), NEBOSH/IOSH safety management certifications
  
• Strong leadership, planning, problem-solving, and communication skills.
