Product manager + growth lead
Job descriptions & requirements
About The Role
You will own the product roadmap and the growth strategy — both, without a team beneath you. That means deciding what gets built, why it gets built, and how it reaches users. You will work directly with the engineer and compliance officer, and you will report to the founder. Decisions move fast here. We expect you to be the person in the room who knows what users actually need, what the numbers actually say, and what the market will actually bear.
What we're looking for
Product — What You'll Own
- Roadmap prioritisation grounded in user behaviour and transaction data
- Feature specifications for onboarding, payments UX, KYC flows, and account management
- Product analytics — funnels, retention, transaction success rates, drop-off points
- Translating compliance requirements into product decisions alongside the compliance officer
- Coordinating engineering delivery without micromanaging it
- Defining and tracking the metrics that tell us the product is healthy.
Growth — What You'll Own
- User acquisition strategy for the Nigerian market
- Referral mechanics and word-of-mouth programmes — trust is the primary growth lever in payments.
- Community presence and brand voice across relevant channels
- Partnership outreach to businesses, agents, and communities that can drive transaction volume
- CAC and retention tracking — you own the numbers, not just the narrative
- Growth experiment design and readout — hypothesis, test, result, decision.
What We Require
- 4+ years in product management or growth — at least one role in a Nigerian or African fintech
- Deep familiarity with the Nigerian payments landscape: Paystack, NIBSS, NIP, CBN rails, telco ecosystem
- The ability to write a clear product spec from scratch — not fill in a template
- Analytical rigour — you can interrogate data directly, not just request reports from others
- Comfort working without a dedicated design team, marketing team, or content team
- A track record of acquiring users and retaining them — not just building features.
What This Role Is Not
- A role for someone who manages people rather than problems
- A role where growth and product are separate conversations
- A role suited to someone who needs established processes before they can move
Nice to have
- Experience with KYC and identity verification as a product surface.
- Network among Nigerian SMEs, market traders, diaspora communities, or digital-native users.
- Proficiency in Mixpanel, Amplitude, or equivalent product analytics tools.
- Prior experience at a Nigerian fintech that went from early traction to meaningful scale.
