Job summary
The Porter (Offloading Personnel) is responsible for safely loading and unloading goods, materials, and equipment, ensuring proper handling, storage, and movement of items within the facility. The role supports warehouse and logistics operations by maintaining efficiency, safety, and organization during all offloading.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Load and unload goods from trucks, containers, and delivery vehicles.
- Move and stack items in designated storage or staging areas.
- Inspect goods for damage, quantity accuracy, and quality issues.
- Assist with inventory checks and stock arrangement.
- Follow safety procedures when handling heavy or fragile items.
- Use manual handling equipment (e.g., trolleys, pallet jacks) when required.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free from hazards.
- Support warehouse staff with general duties as assigned.
- Report damaged goods or safety concerns to supervisors.
- Minimum of primary or secondary school education.
- Physically fit and able to lift, carry, and move heavy loads.
- Previous experience in warehouse, logistics, or loading/offloading is an advantage.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Basic communication skills.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or shifts if required.
- Honest, reliable, and punctual.
