Plantation Manager

Responsibilities:

Crop Planning and Management:

• Develop annual crop plans and schedules for cassava cultivation, taking into account factors such as land availability, soil conditions, and climate.
• Implement best practices for planting, fertilization, irrigation, and pest and disease control to maximize yield and quality.

Field Operations:

• Supervise planting activities, ensuring proper spacing, depth, and planting techniques are followed.
• Monitor crop health and growth throughout the growing season, implementing appropriate measures to address any issues that may arise.

Harvesting and Post-Harvest Handling:

• Coordinate harvest schedules and ensure timely harvesting of mature cassava roots.
• Oversee post-harvest handling, including cleaning, sorting, and transportation to processing facilities.

Equipment and Infrastructure Management:

• Maintain and oversee the use of farm equipment, ensuring proper operation and maintenance.
• Manage plantation infrastructure, including roads, irrigation systems, and storage facilities.

Budgeting and Cost Management:

• Develop and manage annual budgets for plantation Implement 
• Implement cost-saving measures and efficiency improvements where possible

Compliance and Safety:

• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards related to crop cultivation, environmental protection, and worker safety.
• Promote and maintain a safe working environment for all plantation/farm staff

Team Leadership and Development:

• Supervise and provide leadership to plantation staff, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
• Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the plantation team.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, or related field.
• Previous experience in plantation management, preferably in cassava or other root crop production.
• Strong knowledge of agronomic practices, soil science, and crop management techniques.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Proficiency in budgeting, cost management, and record-keeping.
• Familiarity with agricultural machinery and equipment

Work Schedule: Monday - Saturday
