Responsibilities
Operations & Process Monitoring:
- Support the Control Room Technician (CRT) and Operations Supervisor in the safe and efficient operation of plant facilities.
- Monitor plant equipment and perform routine inspections to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Monitor process conditions and make necessary operational adjustments to maintain product quality within operating specifications.
- Maintain accurate operational logs, shift handover reports, and equipment status records.
- Promptly communicate operational issues and abnormalities to relevant stakeholders.
- Interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Utility Flow Diagrams (UFDs), and shutdown logic diagrams to support safe plant operations.
Safety, Compliance & Operational Integrity:
- Ensure all activities comply with company Safety, Health, Environment (SHE), Operational Integrity (OI), and security requirements.
- Participate in emergency response activities, drills, and preparedness programs.
- Prepare work areas to ensure safe execution of maintenance and contractor activities.
- Review maintenance work packages and verify equipment isolation requirements before work begins.
- Endorse Work Permits as Area Operator (AO) and act as Isolating Authority (IA) where required.
- Ensure strict compliance with Permit-to-Work (PTW) procedures, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), risk assessments, and safe isolation practices.
Maintenance & Commissioning Support:
- Support systems completion, plant start-up, and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate with Maintenance teams to safely execute planned maintenance work.
- Perform minor maintenance activities where required.
- Assist in troubleshooting operational issues to maximize plant reliability and efficiency.
- Support work prioritization to minimize downtime and optimize production performance.
Teamwork & Operational Excellence:
- Foster strong collaboration between Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Contractor personnel.
- Promote effective communication across operating areas to resolve operational issues promptly.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards within assigned operating areas.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, plant reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Mentor junior operators by sharing operational knowledge and best practices where appropriate.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Process Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- 6–10 years of experience in plant operations, refinery, petrochemical, LNG, or oil and gas processing facilities.
- Experience supporting plant start-up, commissioning, and routine operations.
- Experience working within Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems and operational safety programs.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of production operations and process plant systems.
- Advanced ability to read and interpret: Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Utility Flow Diagrams (UFDs), Shutdown Logic Diagrams
- Strong understanding of: Permit-to-Work (PTW) Systems, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessment, Step Back 5x5, Emergency Preparedness Procedures, Controls Integrity (CI), Production Operations Best Practices (POBP), Planning & Budgeting (P&B) Processes
- Knowledge of plant equipment operation, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance principles.
