Personnel Officer
Job summary
We are recruiting on behalf of our client in the manufacturing industry, and we are seeking an experienced and proactive Personnel Manager to oversee personnel administration, employee welfare, industrial relations, payroll administration, expatriate management, and statutory compliance across its manufacturing operations.
Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
Personnel Administration:
- Maintain and update employee records, personnel files, and HR documentation.
- Oversee employee onboarding, confirmation, transfers, promotions, and exit processes.
- Manage attendance, leave administration, and workforce records.
- Ensure proper documentation of disciplinary actions and personnel matters.
Payroll Administration:
- Coordinate and supervise monthly payroll processing.
- Ensure accuracy of salaries, overtime, allowances, deductions, and final settlements.
- Liaise with Finance to ensure timely salary payments.
- Manage payroll-related records and reports.
Union Management & Industrial Relations:
- Maintain cordial relationships with labour unions and employee representatives.
- Participate in union meetings, negotiations, and collective bargaining discussions.
- Handle employee grievances and disciplinary matters in line with company policies and labour laws.
- Promote industrial harmony and minimise labour disputes.
Expatriate Management:
- Coordinate expatriate documentation, permits, visas, and regulatory approvals.
- Monitor expatriate quota utilisation and compliance requirements.
- Liaise with relevant government agencies regarding expatriate employment matters.
- Legal & Statutory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian Labour Act and employment regulations.
- Coordinate statutory remittances and compliance activities relating to: PENCOM, NSITF, ITF, NHF, PAYE
- Support audits, inspections, and engagements with regulatory authorities.
- Ensure company HR policies and procedures remain legally compliant.
Employee Relations & Welfare:
- Manage employee welfare programs and workplace engagement initiatives.
- Support conflict resolution and disciplinary procedures.
- Promote a positive work environment and employee productivity.
- Reporting & Administration
- Prepare monthly personnel reports and workforce statistics.
- Provide management with insights on workforce issues and compliance matters.
- Maintain accurate personnel records and confidential employee information.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or HND in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, Public Administration, Law, or related field.
- Professional certification such as CIPM is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in personnel administration or human resources management.
- Proven experience in: Payroll Administration, Union Management, Expatriate Management, Industrial Relations, Labour Law Compliance.
- Manufacturing experience is mandatory.
- Experience in plastic manufacturing, sack manufacturing, packaging, or FMCG industries is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian Labour Law, Personnel Administration, Payroll Management, Union & Industrial Relations Management.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and HR Systems.
