Job summary

The Operations / Workshop Manager is responsible for the overall day-to-day running of ROADMECH’s workshop operations. This role ensures jobs are executed efficiently, safely, and profitably while maintaining high technical standards, strong team discipline, proper workflow, and customer satisfaction.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

Workshop Operations & Job Control:

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all workshop activities and job schedules.
  • Assign jobs to technicians based on skill level and workload.
  • Ensure all jobs are opened, tracked, and closed using approved job cards.
  • Monitor job progress, turnaround time, and quality of workmanship.
  • Ensure vehicles are properly tested and inspected before delivery.


Team Supervision & Performance Management:

  • Supervise technicians, apprentices, and workshop support staff.
  • Enforce discipline, punctuality, safety rules, and standard operating procedures.
  • Coach technicians on diagnostics, repair logic, and best practices.
  • Evaluate staff performance and recommend training or disciplinary action where necessary.


Quality Control & Technical Oversight:

  • Ensure all repairs meet ROADMECH quality and safety standards.
  • Review complex diagnostics and approve major repair decisions.
  • Reduce comebacks, reworks, and customer complaints.
  • Ensure correct tools, procedures, and repair information are used.


Inventory, Cost & Resource Control:

  • Work closely with inventory and procurement teams to ensure parts availability.
  • Ensure parts issued match actual jobs carried out.
  • Minimize wastage, misuse of parts, and unnecessary replacements.
  • Monitor workshop expenses and labor efficiency.


Customer & Management Coordination:

  • Liaise with the Sales/Front Desk team on job approvals, timelines, and pricing.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to customers when required.
  • Provide daily and weekly operational reports to management.
  • Support audits, inspections, and internal reviews.


Health, Safety & Compliance:

  • Enforce workshop safety standards and housekeeping.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional workshop environment.


Requirements:

  • Minimum HND
  • 1 year of previous experience in a similar role
