Mine Security Administrator
Job summary
A fast-growing mining company with operations in Nigeria is seeking experienced and highly disciplined mine security administrator to oversee site security administration, access control, asset protection, guard supervision, incident reporting, and security coordination at its mining operations in Nasarawa and Kebbi States. The successful candidate will serve as a key support function to the Project Manager by ensuring effective security controls across the mine site, camp facilities, stockpiles, warehouses, equipment yards, fuel storage areas, and site perimeter.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Supervise security guards, gate operations, patrol activities, and access control procedures.
- Manage personnel, visitor, contractor, and vehicle entry/exit registration processes.
- Verify gate passes, release notes, weighbridge tickets, seals, vehicle information, and approval documents before authorizing site exit.
- Monitor ore dispatches, material movements, and equipment releases from a security-control perspective.
- Conduct regular patrols of mine stockpiles, warehouse perimeters, fuel storage areas, equipment yards, camps, and boundary fences.
- Prepare and implement guard deployment schedules and patrol routes for day and night shifts.
- Ensure all security records, registers, patrol logs, and incident reports are accurately maintained.
- Investigate and document security incidents including theft, unauthorized access, fighting, suspicious activities, community disturbances, and attempted illegal mining.
- Preserve evidence and immediately escalate major incidents to management and relevant authorities.
- Liaise with project management, HR, operations, community relations personnel, law enforcement agencies, NSCDC, and outsourced security providers on security-related matters.
- Monitor compliance with site security policies, procedures, and access-control requirements.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly security reports highlighting incidents, risks, trends, and recommendations.
- A minimum of an HND in security management, criminology, or business administration, public administration, social sciences, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of two (2) year's experience in security administration, security supervision, law enforcement, military, paramilitary, mining, construction, manufacturing, or related industries.
- Demonstrated experience supervising security personnel and managing site security operations.
- Strong knowledge of access control systems, incident management, asset protection, security reporting, and investigation procedures.
- Excellent report-writing, documentation, and record-management skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with government security agencies and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
- Strong leadership, integrity, attention to detail, and decision-making abilities.
- Willingness to reside and work at a remote mining site.
- Membership of a recognized security professional body.
- Previous experience in mining, quarrying, construction, oil & gas, or industrial operations.
- Background in the Police, Armed Forces, NSCDC, DSS, or other security agencies will be an added advantage.
