Responsibilities
- Merchandise Planning: Develop annual and seasonal merchandise plans for the Nigerian market, defining product structure, key categories, and core SKUs aligned with consumer needs and brand strategy.
- Product Launch & Lifecycle Management: Plan and manage the launch calendar for new products in the Nigerian market, monitor sales performance, and optimize product lifecycle strategies.
- Sales & Data Analysis: Monitor sales performance, inventory turnover, price bands, and consumer preferences in the Nigerian market; provide actionable insights and recommendations for optimization.
- Pricing & Promotions: Design and implement pricing structures and promotional strategies tailored to the Nigerian market, balancing revenue growth and profitability.
- Inventory & Supply Chain Management: Manage stock levels across Nigerian stores and channels, driving replenishment, clearance, and transfers to ensure product availability and sell-through.
- Market & Competitor Insights: Conduct regular research on the Nigerian retail market and competitor activities, leveraging insights to adjust product strategies.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Nigerian retail, marketing, operations, and global merchandising teams to ensure smooth execution of merchandising strategies.
- Team Leadership: Lead and develop the Nigerian merchandising team (supervisors/assistants), enhancing their analytical capability, execution, and business acumen.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in merchandising/product planning, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Background in sportswear, fashion retail, or FMCG merchandising is preferred. Passion for sportswear, fashion, and consumer trends, with strong market awareness.
- Understanding of the Nigerian retail market, with knowledge of local consumer needs and shopping behavior, is preferred.
- Excellent analytical and data interpretation skills; proficient in Excel, BI tools, or merchandising systems.
- Fluent in English with strong cross-cultural communication skills.
- Strategic thinker with strong project management skills, capable of driving results in a fast-paced environment.
